Palmetto Bay community is private, secluded and a tranquil little oasis in a magical, exotic setting with nature, mature palms and coconut trees swaying on the beach. A truly genuine experience – less touristy – no cruise ship traffic – no crowds.
On your drive from the airport you turn onto a scenic, bumpy but short drive up then down a mountain towards the caribbean sea where you will arrive on the north shore of the island in Palmetto Bay
Years ago the Bay Islands was a secret paradise known only to divers. The north shore community of Palmetto Bay is made up of private homes and has the “biggest, best, and finest” beach on the whole island, with calm bay waters, and a relatively unexplored reef.
The grounds of Palmetto Bay are breathtakingly gorgeous! The layout throughout the property and leading to the sea is like a sculptured jungle, with lush vegetation with a large variety of flowering plants and trees. The beach itself is one of the largest areas of clean white sand, calm warm waters, and dotted with tropical palm trees. Sea grass grows in the shallow waters off the shore and the dock is a jump-off stop for swimming and snorkeling.
Palmetto Bay is a resort community consisting of custom homes through out. In the center of the bay is a ‘Balinese Themed Village with beach cottages peppering the shoreline. May of these properties are available for holiday rentals – some home building sites are available.
The community collectively owns the centrally located “lodge” that houses a restaurant that hosts live music on weekend nights, and consistently features a varied menu of well-prepared meals with outstanding specials. The resort collective shows a sensitivity to the environment, and buildings are architecturally designed to enhance the appearance of the grounds and bring the outdoors inside, with sliding floor-to-ceiling louvers and overhead fans. Tropical coconut palms sway in the wind on the beach next to the modest swimming pool and lounge area. Fresh-water outdoor showers are available to shower before entering the pool or area.
The rural location on the north shore, ensures Palmetto Bay to be a quiet, romantic and peaceful getaway with beach is one of Roatan’s the longest and privates beaches- perfect for morning walks, amazing snorkeling or have fun exploring the botanical gardens.
Relax on the 160 feet of dock with Palapa in a hammock or use the dock as a jump-off point for swimming and snorkeling as the bay is a protected marine park- sea grass grows right off the shore and is a nursery for marine life. Our community is a eco-sensitive.
